Backflow Base / Tester certification / Wyoming
Backflow tester certification in Wyoming.
DEQ does not issue its own tester certificate. Its rule (Water Quality Chapter 12) requires installed assemblies to be inspected and certified by a tester certified by ASSE, ABPA or a DEQ-approved state program, and high-hazard non-residential assemblies tested yearly. Each water system sets the rest.

Who certifies
Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Water Quality Division

The state sets a minimum; a water system may ask for more.
What it takes
- Credential
- ASSE or ABPA backflow assembly tester certification, or a state program approved by DEQ
- Exam
- Given by the certifying body (ASSE or ABPA), not by Wyoming.
Certificates from elsewhere
- ASSE 5110: accepted as it is. Named in the DEQ rule as an accepted tester certification.
- ABPA: accepted as it is. Named in the DEQ rule as an accepted tester certification.
- other: up to each water system. A state certification program approved by the DEQ administrator is also allowed; none was found listed.
