Credential

WV Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification

Before you start

At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.

Training

Pass an approved 40-hour course on theory, design, performance, testing and maintenance of backflow assemblies.

Exam

Two-part exam scheduled by the Bureau: closed-book written (70% to pass) and a performance exam. Failing: wait 60 days to retake; three failures: wait one year.

Renewal

Certificate expires 3 years after issue. Apply on Form EW-75 between 90 and 30 days before expiry with proof of experience or approved continuing education; a late or incomplete application means retaking both exams.
